Privacy of personal information is important to Shining Through. We are committed to collecting, using and disclosing personal information responsibly. We aim to be transparent and open about how we handle personal information.
Client Information
What is personal information?
Personal information is information about an identifiable individual. It includes information that refers to personal characteristics (e.g. gender, age, address, telephone number etc.); health (e.g. health history, health condition, services received etc.) or activities and views (e.g. religion, politics, opinions, etc.). Personal information is different from business information which is not protected by legislation (e.g. persons business address, telephone number etc.).
Who we are?
Our organization, Shining Through Centre, includes a variety of clinicians and employees that may, in the course of their duties, have access to personal information we hold. All employees and clinicians are supervised by Shiri Bartman, M.A., C. Psych Associate, BCBA.
We collect Personal Information
We collect, use and disclose personal information in order to serve our clients and conduct our ABA and psychological services.
Protecting Personal Information
We take the following steps to protect personal information:
– Paper information is either under supervision or locked in a restricted area – Electronic hardware is either under supervision or secured and passwords are used on all computers and devices
– Paper information is transmitted through sealed, addressed envelopes
– Electronic information is transmitted either through a direct line or has identifiers removed or is encrypted
– Staff are trained to collect and store information that is necessary to fulfil their duties – External consultants with access to personal information must enter into privacy agreement with us
Fundraising
Shining Through protects your personal donor information and adheres to all legislation concerning protection of privacy. We do not sell, rent or share your contact information. Shining Through does not utilize telemarketers or third party fundraising groups.
The information you provide will be used to process payments, issue tax receipts, keep you informed of our upcoming activities, and inform you of volunteer opportunities. If you wish, at any time, to be removed from our mailing list, or have any concerns regarding our privacy policy, please contact us at 905-851-7955 x210 or info@shiningthrough.ca.
Shining Through reserves the right to modify or amend this Privacy Notice at any time and for any reason. We will also update this Privacy Policy and our privacy practices to comply with federal and provincial privacy legislation as they may each apply. You may request a copy of the Privacy Notice currently in effect at any time by contacting us.
